[혈맥론] 12. 부처를 찾고자 한다면, 모름지기 자신의 성품(자성自性)을 보아야만 한다.

To find a Buddha all you have to do is see your nature. Your nature is the Buddha. 

And the Buddha is the person who’s free: free of plans, free of cares. 

If you don’t see your nature and run around all day looking somewhere else, 

you’ll never find a buddha. The truth is there’s nothing to find. 

But to reach such an understanding you need a teacher and you need to struggle 

to make yourself understand. Life and death are important. Don’t suffer them in vain.

There’s no advantage in deceiving yourself. Even if you have mountains of jewels and 

as many servants as there are grains of sand along the Ganges, you see them when 

your eyes are open. But what about when your eyes are shut? You should realize then that

everything you see is like a dream or illusion.

부처를 찾고자 한다면, 모름지기 자신의 성품(자성自性)을 보아야만 한다. 

자성이 곧 부처이고, 부처는 곧 자재한 사람이며, 일 없고, 조작함이 없는 사람이다.

만약 자성(自性)을 보지 못하면, 종일 아득하고 어두워서 밖으로만 치달리며 부처를 찾겠지만, 

부처는 원래 찾을 수 없는 것이다. 비록 한 물건도 얻을 수 없지만, 만약 깨닫고자 한다면, 

역시 선지식을 찾아가 반드시 간절하고 끈기 있게 공부해서 마음이 알아차리도록 해야 한다.

생사의 일이 중대하니, 헛되이 시간을 보내지 말라.

스스로를 속이는 것은 이로울 것이 없다. 비록 진기한 보물이 산처럼 쌓여 있고 일가 권속이 

갠지스강의 모래처럼 많더라도, 눈을 뜨면 그것들이 보이지만, 눈을 감아도 보이는가?

그러므로 유위(有爲)의 법(모든 현상)은 꿈 같고 허깨비 같은 것임을 알아야 한다.
